As a young boy, Anumuthu found joy in raising pet animals at home. His love for creatures—especially sheep and country chickens—deepened during his time as a shepherd. Summers were harsh; unemployment and poverty often left his family with little to eat. Yet, it was these humble animals that sustained them, offering both nourishment and hope.

He fondly remembers an old, destitute man who once accompanied him into the forest to grease their sheep. Despite his poverty, the man had purchased a single sheep. To Anumuthu’s astonishment, he later discovered that this man had once owned over a hundred sheep—selling them gradually over the years to survive. That memory left a lasting impression.

A Vision Born from Experience

Having walked the path of survival himself, Anumuthu came to understand the power of homegrown animals—not just as a source of income, but as a source of happiness and dignity. This realization inspired his dream: to build an eco-friendly gramam (village) where rescued destitute individuals could live together, grow their own food, and care for birds and sheep. A place where sustainability meets joy, and every life is valued.

Snehan Home: Nurturing Life and Livelihood

As part of this vision, Snehan Home has begun raising country chickens on campus. Our residents are learning to feed them, collect eggs, and nurture their growth—skills that not only generate potential income but also offer meaningful engagement. The smiles on their faces as they hold these birds speak volumes about the joy and purpose this brings.
