Snehan Home

Ms. Rani, a 60-year-old widow, once lived with her son’s family. One dark night, while crossing a stony road, she fell and broke her back—leaving her permanently disabled. Her family spent all they could on treatment, but recovery was slow and incomplete. Dependent on her son for every need, he was forced to leave his job, and the family soon sank into poverty. Tensions rose. Her daughter-in-law grew resentful, and conflict tore the household apart. Eventually, her son was pressured to abandon his mother. One night, he left her in a distant city—alone, on the street. There, she suffered silently, fading day by day.

Rani’s story is not unique. Many elderly, disabled, and sick individuals are cast out, left to survive on the streets. Life there means hunger, isolation, and untreated illness. Passersby may offer coins or food, but what they truly need is medical care and the healing touch of love.

Snehan Home, a project of Goodwill Mission Trust, exists to restore dignity to these vulnerable lives. Every day, elderly parents and grandparents are pushed out of their homes, victims of neglect and domestic abuse. With nowhere to turn, they beg or scavenge for food, too weak to seek help, too sick to be seen.

Snehan Home offers a family to those who have none. Here, they receive a warm bed, nutritious meals, medical care from trained nurses, and emotional support from compassionate counselors. They find safety, companionship, and the chance to be heard.

Snehan believes every life holds value. We dream of a Pondicherry where no one dies forgotten. Join us in this mission of mercy. Help us bring dignity, love, and hope to those who need it most.
