Do you know homeless people around the world contribute the maximum in keeping the environment clean? Think of a city without homeless collecting waste materials from garbage, will not pileup in the land destroying our mother earth? 

Snehan initiated income-generating activities among homeless beneficiaries in Pondicherry. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Siva Mathiyazhagan, founder of TYCL (Trust for Youth and Child Leaders). The willing homeless need not to hunt for their survival but can sell Eco-friendly cotton bags around Pondicherry for their livelihood.  50% of the profit will be given to the seller at the end of the day. 50% of the profit would go for (Home for dying destitute) Special thanks to Mr. Zafer the Sanchi man from Kerala. Snehan trying to bring value in the lives of homeless beneficiaries.

With better treatment at PIMS hospital, Mr.Pondi is recovering well. Dileep from Kerala came to support Snehan, as a caretaker in the hospital. Special thanks to PIMS hospital authorities and dear Dileep Warrier.

A 53-year-old Pondi from Tirupur, became homeless after his wife remarried. He has no family or children. He is a mason by proficient, while at work; welding spark fell on his clothes, caught fire, and injured about 40%.  He was admitted in the government hospital by co-workers but because there was no caretaker, he could not get proper treatment from the hospital.  With that injury, he reached Pondicherry, to seek his brother but could not find. He straggled about a week without medical assistant and physical needs. Snehan found him dying on street. Informed the nearest police station with the help of police Snehan admitted him in the hospital for treatment.

#Snehan team participated, one day training on country chicken #farming in Tamil Nadu Veterinary Research Center in Cuddalore. Eighty members participated in the training. The training was very much useful for the beginners like us in livestock farming. We learned different variety of breed, the efficient ways to hatch eggs, natural ways of making nutrition feed, home based treatment during sickness, cheap and best ways to make shelter and so on. Water diviner Mr.Vetrichelvan from Vetri Zero Budget Natural Farm came to Snehan Village to spot a place to drill borehole. The future Snehan Village would be a platform to create employment opportunity for unemployed homeless people, who live on street without basic needs. Through Snehan Village, many lives would be transformed from street life to mainstream community. Yes, this is a hard task, but not impossible goal. Looking for like-minded people, to support us in reaching our goal.

68 years old Rajendran, reached on street after the death of his wife. He became full time alcohol addict because lonely life. He was very sick on street, the police called Snehan to rehabilitate him, meanwhile Rajendran told us, his relative address, where our Snehan staff traced and rehabilitated him back home.

Thambidurai (61 Years old) uncle visited Snehan Drop-in Center today. He is very cheerful man, who is content with what he has. He does not have family, collects waste to survive. He came with one small bag full of clothes to donate us; I was amazed with his act. He likes watching movie as specially James Bond movies. He was happy after the movie; hopefully in future Snehan would open one shelter home.
